Shock (well, not really): CBS uses Al Qeada video for report.
Following their mantra of “fake, but accurate” started during the 2004 election cycle, CBS followed up with a recent report filed by reporter Lara Logan.
The orginal report was not aired because CBS executives claimed it was too “graphic.” Fair enough.
The report ended up on CBS’s website and youtube though. What’s the big deal? Well analysis by Talisman Gate and Robert Stevens proved that the video was actually video used on an official Al Qeda website.
As soon as the video source came to light, CBS denied its orgin through its Public Eye portion of the website.
“I can assure you this was not from Al-Qaeda,” said Friedman, who declined to identify the source. “Whenever we can identify the source of information or video, we want to do that,” he added. “There are some rare cases when we have to protect the source. In this case, we needed to do so, because it’s literally a matter of life and death.”
I would contend that the least thing Logan and CBS could do would be to check the source. You would think after the forged documents debacle CBS would double check to see if their sources were politically motivated. Robert Stevens follows up with an analysis proving that in any case CBS is extending Al Qeada’s propaganda arm here states side.
My response is not one of shock, but of sarcasim, being that both parties have the same goal: The defeat and withdrawl of America from Iraq.
